This is a story about a wonderful doll named Rose, who was created by a doll maker in Germany. Just before he put the finishing touches to the doll, he sewed a tiny heart into the cloth.

Her life story will tug at your heart strings as she experiences love from families in Germany, to sitting on shelves in a charity shop, tossed out for the garbage, drowning in Morocco and then finally ending up in a dolls’ hospital in Germany tattered and torn.

What happens next? That’s the burning question.

Mary Bessenich was born in Swansea in 1955. Much of her childhood was spent as a chorister in the local church where she trained to become an organist. In 1972 she attained her Grade 8.

Mary spent many years living in Hamburg and Dubai and speaks fluent German. She loves travelling and the Venice Carnival is her favourite trip each year! She regularly visits Morocco, Rome, Austria and Portugal. However the trip to the Seychelles left such an indelible impression upon her all those years ago that she was inspired to write about it.

Mary actually had the privilege of meeting Brendan Grimshaw on his private island of Moyenne and enjoyed a cup of tea with him!

She is the proud mother to Anna and grandmother to Oliver.

The Adventures Of Rose is such a beautiful, heart-warming tale that will make your heart swell with love and also your eye shed a tear. The book is about Rose, a hand-crafted doll, and her life of thirty years and counting.
The reader sees the love that goes into making Rose and the loss felt when she is sold.
Rose is a special doll with a red velvet heart who leaves a trail of love wherever she goes.
The reader follows Rose over the years. We see her as a much-loved doll, a reject, a loyal companion and more. Lives are touched by this unique doll.
There is the theme of bullying. The reader’s heart breaks for a young victim, who wishes she could wash the hurt away of bullying as easily as she can wash the dirt off Rose. We see the love poured into Rose, the hurt and the pain.
The Adventures Of Rose is a beautiful book that will touch your heart. It may make you believe in miracles. And you will wonder – what happens next? This is a simply beautiful book for all who are young at heart.
I received a free copy from the publishers. A favourable review was not required. All opinions are my own.
