A delightful, whimsical tale of a homeless cat in an ever-changing cotton mill vegetable garden. How can the kitty ever survive the four seasons alone, along with the trauma of being hungry, cold and wet through another English winter? Two sad children wander into his world, but why do the children need cheering up and do they need Kitty as much as he needs them? Kitty uses many tricks, to catch the children’s attention but will they notice him? Will Kitty’s fate ever change? Will the children’s heartache ever ease?

This gently illustrated little tale will tell the story of what happens at Christmas time and leave no doubt in anyone’s heart, that kindness brings joy and happiness… that kindness really does pay.

Nana Babs initially wrote this story for her two little grandsons whilst visiting England, then decided to share its lesson with other children. She grew up with her nan, who was an artist and inspired her first love of the arts and allowed her to keep a sweet stray kitten. Nana Babs still loves the arts and travelling and is a piano, speech and drama teacher. Along with her family in Perth, including her grandsons, Nana Babs delights in visiting her eldest daughter in London. Trips to England always include a visit to St Monans, Scotland, where her family tree originates.

The Cotton Mill Kitty: Kindness Pays by Nana Babs is a pure delight for young children and indeed, for anyone of any age. It is a most beautiful book for cat lovers everywhere.
The story is a simple one – a stray cat remembers when he had a home and is now trying to survive in the elements. It is a tale that cannot help but tug at your heartstrings. I can empathise with Mottley as we are also feeding a stray cat in need of love and care.
There is the theme of kindness. As you give it out, so it is returned to you.
We see that Mottley has empathy too as he recognises sadness in others.
The whole book is beautifully illustrated. I wanted to sink into the pages. Each page is bursting with detail. I took great delight in searching for Mottley to see what he was up to.
The Cotton Mill Kitty is simply beautiful and absolutely charming. It sank into my heart and soul. This is a book that should be bought, savoured and passed down the generations. Why not buy your copy today? – And one for a friend too. This is so delightful. I loved it.
I received a free copy from the publishers. A favourable review was not required. All opinions are my own.
