A short while ago I read and reviewed an incredible book called The Secrets of Westborough Hall and ever since finishing it I was hooked on Felicity Knight’s literature and knew I had to read and review another book of hers, and read one I did. The book I read next by Knight is called The Devine Girls and is the book I am reviewing for you lovely readers today and The Devine Girls is a companion novel to The Secrets of Westborough Hall and will reunite readers with Devine family.
The Devine Girls is a stunning piece of literature that enthralled, entertained and enchanted me from the first page. When I discovered The Devine Girls and read the premise I was sold because the description alludes to a strong theme of a character study of the male protagonist Piers Devine and will take a more in-depth look into his life during World War 2 so I was excited to read and get lost in The Devine Girls. Everything about The Devine Girls is stellar; the characters, as well as the places the reader encounters and the incredible literature courtesy of the excellent Felicity Knight, made me fall madly in love with this book. The Devine Girls is a piece of fiction that will captivate readers from all genres thanks to the many themes that are interwoven between the pages. This book can only be described as a read that should not be missed! If you are looking to read a book that will grasp your attention from the first page and hold it throughout then already I would implore you lovely readers to read this book because it is utterly brilliant!
The Devine Girls is an incredible novel that will reunite readers with the Devine family and will introduce the reader to Piers Devine, the Earl of Westborough who is a Veteran with a mysterious past. Piers served during World War 2 and because of all the horrific events he encountered, he has struggled to bond with his daughters Jane and Maudie and even his stepdaughter Scarlett. The daughters are receiving no affection or attention from their father, and so this leads them all on a journey, some for good, some for worse. Jane starts acting out and becomes the ‘black sheep of the family,’ and Maudie turns her attention to her passion in life, music and immerses herself in it more and more each day. Scarlett, however, takes a very different path and instead of running from the problem her father has, she decides to learn more about it and him and she does this by taking a trip into his past to his World War 2 days and what she discovers will change what she thought she knew about everything and this book lovers is the premise of the sensational novel that is The Devine Girls.

The author Felicity Knight has an excellent ability to build a scene that is visually compelling. The plot is superb and continually moves forward at an enjoyable pace; it has so many layers that are slowly peeled away to reveal even more questions, and this was incredibly entertaining to read. The subplots are equally as strong and have been cleverly entwined into the main story all thanks to Knight and her incredible writing talent.
The excellent author of this novel, Felicity Knight effortlessly takes the reader on a compelling journey; Knight’s words managed to keep me intrigued as well as entertained as I raced through this book. It is the kind of book that is impossible to put down, and when I had to I longed for it! I wanted to be reunited with the story I had grown to love and the characters I had become invested in.
Felicity Knight is a talented and a well-accomplished author who has written an unforgettable novel that features heavily on its characters and themes. Knight’s characterization of the protagonist of the story, Scarlett, is superb and I believe that readers will be able to fall in love with her quickly and admire the journey she takes. The protagonist is a believable character and her narrative jumps right off the page and into the reader's heart. That brings me to another attribute I love about Knight’s literature … Knight has managed to create a vivid picture in my mind of this setting she has established. Knight’s sometimes long, descriptive sentences, captured my imagination and made me turn the pages with haste!
Overall The Devine Girls is a charismatic novel that compelled me from start to finish and thrilled me on many occasions, and so I have to award this stellar book five stars! Be sure to have a read of the preview book lovers, you will not regret it!
