It was a beautiful summer’s day. Hope was feeling sad. All of the adults around her were angry.

She didn’t know what to do. She felt the gentle breeze on her skin and gazed at the blue sky; little did she know that things were about to change forever.

Hope has had an extensive career working with children and adults who have experienced trauma, having worked in the fields of criminal justice, mental health and social care. This has given an insight regarding the human condition and how people respond to personal suffering. This has also shaped a desire to write for those who have experienced sadness and trauma, and help them in their journey towards recovery and to promote resilience.

Hope was born in Sydney, Australia, and came to live in England at the age of four. She has a master’s degree.

Hope currently manages a community project in Kent.

Having just read The Dream Tree by Hope Wells I think this is perfectly written for young children who might be in need of encouragement. It's very simple in its depiction of seeing the world through a child's eyes. The illustrations are imaginative and fit in very well with the story. Even as an adult I enjoyed reading this with its message of hope to hold on to when things are tough. I am sure there are many children in today's challenging world who will relate to the main character in this story. For this reason I would recommend this little book to today's young readers in the 6-8 year old age group.
