Steve Foster is a lone fisherman enjoying the solitude of a deserted beach. His peace is shattered when he witnesses a major drug smuggling deal and his solitude turns to a situation of extreme danger.

Kidnapped by the drug gang, he is taken aboard a container ship where his world is turned upside down. What follows is a saga of violent encounters and the horrors of a deadly attack by hijackers in the Java Sea.

This is the story of Steve’s fight for survival and his scheming to take revenge on his captors.

Lindsay Smith lives in the South Island of New Zealand where he spends much of his time in the outdoors following his passion of fly fishing and hunting.

What a great book! From the very start of this read, I felt like I was there with Steve Foster. A descriptive and exciting storey which made it hard for me to put the book down. Highly recommend to anyone that loves action, adventure, crime and just a good read all round.

I've just finished Lindsay Smith's book, The Elephant Fish. I guess the best thing to say is move over Lee Childs. It is a story I could not put down but unlike Lee Childs, this story is very possible. You can really relate to Steve Foster's character and sometimes you feel as if you're playing his part. Cleverly written without anything complicated. I look forward to his next book.

Steve Foster, the man at the centre of the story, is a very interesting character and I can see where Lindsay Smith is heading with his book. He has left it wide open for a follow up which I hope will follow. The book flows smoothly but the reader is given no opportunity to guess what is going to happen next. It is a long compelling tale; exciting, emotional, and very real.
