Fifty-something friends Rick Shannon and Hugo Twiss found that they shared more than an interest in the unexplained and classic TV shows and films when they met at a 'Mysterious Britain' convention several years ago - a love of coffee and cakes.

When Hugo turns up at a cafe for their weekly get together with a solid gold statuette, that was stolen thirty-five years ago in Los Angeles, which he has agreed to deliver to the 'Fatman' in London for a fee, Rick doubts his claims of it being easy peasy, lemon squeezy and agrees to join Hugo on his mission. Can the duo deliver the idol, get paid and arrive back in Leicester in time for coffee and cake?

Born in Huyton, near Liverpool in 1957, T. K. Fairclough worked as a safari park attendant and a door-to-door soft drinks salesman before serving for 22 years in the Royal Air Force and then afterwards as a security officer. He has three adult children and two grand-daughters and lives in Leicester. This is his first book.

This has all the ingredients of a well written story
You can see the characters come to life before you, from the very first page I was hooked,it has
Comedy, drama,in equal mesures it's quite apparent that Hugo and Rick have a very special bond, from the first few pages I actually laughed out loud.
Hugo was always very much in control,he was the leader and Rick the follower, it was in my opinion a must read, the twist at the end was quite
Unexpected, with so many twists and turns as they made their way rounds the streets.
To a brilliant end,a thoroughly enjoyable read.

I really enjoyed reading The Golden Idol by T K Fairclough. I thought the warmth and the Charisma between Hugo and Bert (Rick) was wonderful and they clearly had a lot of chemistry. The witty jokes appealed to my humour. Old fashioned good sense of fun. I found out interesting facts about people and places. A lovely way to unwind after a busy day. Hope there are more books to come from this talented and insightful writer. Well done Mr Fairclough

The book had a funny and also moving storyline, two friends and their outlook on the world around them. This is a book everyone can relate to and is an adventure with a heart. Hope there will be a follow up.
