Book Description

Dark as Hell.

Brutally funny.

Sweet as Love.

The criminally insane story you’ll absolutely love.

Cape Town’s advertising guru, Jake Cameron, is on top of his game. Nothing can stop ‘The Snake’ becoming richer than God, divorcing his gorgeous wife Jennifer, and living the narcissist’s dream in the penthouse his lawyer calls ‘Jake’s Fornicatorium’.

But Jake’s joyride hits the wall when a dusty spectre appears at his penthouse picture window, spitting ancient curses. A massive stroke shuts Jake’s circuits, erases his memory, and prepares him for the SUPER SAVANT cognitive upgrade he’s been selected for.

Why?

Jennifer Cameron’s worst nightmare comes true when ‘The Camputer’ wakes up, claiming he’s under orders from a blind-eyed angel named Fornax. Jake has to resurrect a derelict bookstore in a dying shopping centre and set the tenants free. The future of millions hangs upon him meeting his seven-day deadline from hell.

To beat the odds, Jake has to contend with three scumbags who are hell-bent on killing him, and deal with the man he was, the lies he lived...and Jennifer.

‘Phone your corrupt lawyer,’ Fornax rasps, and so the reluctant hero, hesitant wife, sceptical bookstore owner, and peculiar angels must trust the nefarious skills of a wildly ADHD Jewish lawyer to evade death, rebirth love and beat what’s coming at them.

Richard Vowles was born and grew up in South Africa. After a long exile in boarding school, he fought in the Angolan War as an Infantry Platoon Commander.

He survived his war, going on to found a top communications business and lose a small fortune.

At home, Richard is married to the wife of his life. They have four kids and a Labrador, and live in a place that draws breath from the exquisite Cape Town coastline.

His second novel, The Valley of the Shadow, will soon be available.

Mike L Anderson, Ph.D. (Philosophy of Evolutionary Biology) Hi Richard, I finally got to reading your book. I let it dangle as a reward for completing a project. A very big thank-you for your fantastic book. I so needed it. Well done my good man! I am blown away. What a riveting read! Such characters! It was spiritual without religiosity, a scrumptious and nutritious meal without the cod liver oil. The crude sparring brought me back to boarding school. Thank-you for making me feel not alone in seeing the world as rotten. I got such a chortle from Bernstein's Biology exam question on natural selection. Shrewdly serpentine is he! What does this say about the author behind it all? You meet a dire need in being part lamenting (and part fuming) prophet. Get ready. You may get moral indignation from some Christians. Dorothy Sayers got it over her "The Man Born to be King" through having the soldiers blasphemously mock Jesus. Anyway, she got free advertising from it all. My only beef with you is in calling your scumbags vertical cockroaches. This is not fair on cockroaches! As you know, I've kept the insects as pets. May our Loving King give you much strength and grace in your writing, Richard. It is gratifying to know someone on the same page.

Richard, The Gospel of TF Bundy is outrageously entertaining. Also thought-provoking and inspiring. I am enamoured with the characters, the conflicts, even, at a push, the angels (I do have my doubts about angels) and the outcome. I have never read anything like it before, and I read a lot and widely! I’ll be recommending it to all my customers at Cahn's Wines & Spirits in Auckland, New Zealand and my social circles far beyond! I am sure that it will sell like hell (hotcakes). Martin

The Gospel of TF Bundy is an amazing book; its depth and breadth is simply stunning. I have waited to get my hands on a piece of old-fashioned modern apologetics that is presented in such an imaginative, absorbing and entertaining way. It is a great read and ammunition to stimulate discussions with family and friends! The characters stretch the mind, and the chaos is catchy because it connects to my own chaos. Was gripped from page 1 to the end. A truly engrossing and entertaining read! The book also allowed me to understand the mischievous eyes of the author. He represents in his being the paradox that we find in Christianity, something that is properly on display in The Gospel of TF Bundy. I can only say that I’ve enjoyed being one of a handful of people he calls his Lab Rats, and that our lives are richer when we read books like The Gospel of TF Bundy. I highly recommend it.

The Gospel of TF Bundy is absorbing, amazing, amusing, and all the other alliteration, I don’t have space for here. What a ride! Emotive, evocative and engaging - very!  Your prose is beautiful, your characters are just awesome, as are the many stunning witticisms, which had me chuckling out loud. Also, I just loved Bernstein. Hope to meet up with him again. And Fornax! I am in awe of the research that went into this book, and I’ve learnt a lot from it. It spans all genres, from Crime to Faith. It is very topical as well, and explains so much of what is going on around the world today. Not only in business, but in the Church as well.  Sad to say goodbye to Jake and the gang and the Angelic Host, but good to know they will be back! Thank you, Richard, for an amazing read.  Now I can say "I know the author". Keep up the good work.   Margie Hare
