The Heavenly Papa Giraffe by Dr. Maysoon Salama is a beautifully crafted story that not only captivates with its warmth and humor but also delves deeply into the complex emotions of grief. The author expertly portrays how the characters navigate the painful loss of a loved one, blending moments of lightness with raw vulnerability. Through the journey of the giraffe, readers are invited into a world where healing comes slowly, but love and support from those around us can provide the strength to keep going. Salama's portrayal of grief feels authentic and touching, offering both comfort and insight for anyone who has faced loss. The balance between sorrow and hope is handled with care, making this a deeply moving and resonant read.

Dr. MaysoonOne day when Papa Giraffe and Grandpa Griaffe went to the sacred waterhole they did not come home. Baby Giraffe wonders what has happened to her adored Papa. A tragedy has happened. All who live in the woodland are shocked as it unfolds. Families of the waterhole congregation are devastated. A difficult subject, this is a great book for parents and educators supporting younger children dealing with death and grief - and death and grief in traumatic circumstances ( see authors explanation at end of book). Delightful illustrations blend with the story making a book that can be read and talked about multiple times. Whilst this is a moving story of loss and grief it is also about resilience and strength of faith.
