In 1989, deep in the South American jungles of Suriname, a former commando and Falklands War veteran discharged from the SAS found himself with a group of contract soldiers training a rebel army against a violent dictator regime.Things were not so clear cut in this war-torn country and as cracks began to appear in finding out who had the moral high ground, cracks also began to appear in the team itself. It seemed the leader of the group had other agendas which he was keeping from the mixed bag of former British commandos and French Foreign Légion soldiers. Now, as all-out war has got ever closer, this becomes increasingly difficult for the author, as he too, has not been totally truthful with the others.

After being accepted back into the services, the author held a number of different posts. Years later, he was recognised by the queen for, quote: 17 years outstanding military service, as a member of the forces, in the service of Her Majesty the Queen and the country.”

After working for a prominent private security company in surveillance, then technical advisor and whilst still a sergeant within the reserve forces, he went on to become an extremely successful film and TV stunt man.

After winning a Hollywood World Stunt Award in 2013 for his in-flight plane-to-plane hijack jump on the Batman film, Dark Knight Rising, he has now become a very well-respected stunt coordinator and action unit director.

Along with his many skills, he is an accomplished amateur racing driver, ski and skydive instructor and has represented his country in extreme sports.

When not working on a movie or following his passion as an amateur racing driver, he lives between his homes in the UK and the Spanish Canary Islands, where he continues to write.

Just finished reading this book. A great read and honest account of Soldiering in a murky world of freelance military work. As an ex- Soldier I loved hearing the slang and banter again and I highly recommend reading this book!!

Totally recommend this book, the author is a great storyteller who makes you feel you are right there in the jungle with him. It was really interesting to also learn about Suriname and what life was like there in 1989. This book really opened my eyes, and I found it a real page turner.
