Book Description

What started as a dreaded Christmas vacation soon spiralled into absolute chaos.

His parents were desperate to be the image of the perfect, happy, normal family, but Charlie Rose is anything but. He’s quirky, he stutters, and he is nothing but an embarrassment to everyone around him.

Charlie harbours a secret that would dismantle all notions of normality. A secret so twisted, even he is unaware of it.

Until now.

Everyone will have to live with the fallout from sweet, little Chuck’s new reality, but all Charlie wants is to feel safe in the comfort of his family and have a nice Christmas morning.

Is that too much for a twelve-year-old boy to ask? Where do you turn when even your own shadow is a stranger?

Riley Craig was born in Scotland and lives there with her partner and their many pets now. The animals made their presence known during the hours it took in the creation of this work by resting on her lap or by her feet. Growing up, she developed a fascination with the horror and thriller genre, a love which continues to this day. The Outcast is her first book.

A story laden with twists and turns. Follow Charlie Rose and his family on a Christmas vacation no one could predict. The story starts as a slow burn but suddenly doubles in intensity leaving you desperate to find out what's next. The ending broke me! Can't wait to see what comes next from this author

A book that had me out of my comfort zone- a compelling story of the cruelty of humans- the author has created a book with twists and turns and once you start there is no way back- the imagery is frankly brilliant - a sad story that you just wish was going to have a happy ending - read it and weep for the characters who deserved compassion especially The Outcast - sadly most lacked any empathy and were undeserving of our compassion-an interesting book which needs to be read -I look forward to the next creation from Riley Craig

Really enjoyed this book! It's very well written, the story pulls you in from page one. The chapters are bite sized and easy to read and follow. The story has real good twists and turns, you feel for Charlie all the way... the story shows the dark side of human beings perfectly. Highly recommending and looking forward the next book from Riley Craig!
