Alice J Johnson was born in Hackney and grew up in Tottenham, North London. Alice left school at 16 and entered into an apprenticeship taking her into the world of hairdressing; in the late ’70s/’80s this was a fashionable and exciting place to be. Alice married her school sweetheart in 1985, and had her own business before giving birth to twins in 1988. The ’80s was a busy time for Alice! Yearning to do something different, in 1996 Alice went to college for a year to get the qualification needed to gain a place at university to study for three years to become a primary school teacher. Alice started teaching in 2000 and said goodbye to hairdressing! This second career unleashed a passion for educating young children and in 2009 Alice became the Headteacher of a school in Tottenham, she is still there today. Living in Hertfordshire, Alice has never lost her commitment and passion for children and their families in Tottenham, proud to be the Headteacher of a diverse and vibrant school, she is delighted to be able to bring the magic and wonder of books to the children in her school every day. Now a grandmother, Alice decided to write her first book, set in Tottenham, where she grew up and where, all those years ago, all the magic began.
