It is Christmas Eve on a warm summer’s day and Charlie has been building festive sand sculptures on the beach. Filled with excitement, Charlie joins her family and the marching band on the way to the village carol service. An unexpected encounter with Santa then leads to her exciting day continuing into a magical evening when he needs her help to save Christmas.

An active imagination is one of the author’s earliest memories, when having a pet lion in the back garden was his favourite fantasy. Creative writing was one of his favourite subjects at school and after receiving a comment of ‘weird’ from his English teacher, it was more than enough motivation to consider a career in writing. Whilst this writing pot was left to simmer, Gus LaShelle has been a butcher and a baker, but not a candlestick maker. The Sand Sleigh is his first picture book.

Although this story is in a picture book form, it has been well told in a very clever, unusual way and steers away from the traditional Santa in the snow stories. It is very well illustrated which shows the dedication of the publishing team to produce a quality product and is available in many stores accross the globe.
Because of it's unusual theme it will be much enjoyed by the young readers.
It is a must for any parent who wants something new and refreshing for their young children.
