The Sinking of the Lusitania is a collection of short stories linked together by the medal of the same name. Some stories have an autobiographical element, some are historically based, and others are purely fictitious.

The stories span the period from the early 1930s to the year 2025, with settings ranging from central Britain to Poland, Germany, and France. Themes of romance and nostalgia are contrasted with darker elements of corruption and brutality.

Much of this story is autobiographical.

Robert Wright was born and brought up in Cannock, the son of a miner. He left school with just O-Levels, but by attending evening classes and then agricultural college, he was admitted to university. He was a hard worker, known affectionately by his friends as ‘Trogger’ Wright.

He moved with his wife and son to Skye in 1983, but he never forgot his Black Country heritage.

He was a great supporter of the underdog, and very concerned with fairness, both values that are echoed in this book.

He researched diligently and was determined to publish this manuscript.

Sadly, he passed away before he could finally see it in print, but I hope he would be pleased with the final result.
