Four friends – James, Tim, J.J. and Mike – take advantage of a hot day in Melbourne, Australia, by playing a game of a water bomb fight. Whilst the boys are playing, James’s sister gets an unwelcome splash from her brother. The water fight is ended shortly because of the change of weather – it rains. James and his friends agree that they’ve had the best water fight ever. James’s sister gets revenge by soaking the four friends with a hose.

The water fight is a good summer book. When l read this book it makes me feel happy because when James' sister comes in and she's so mad, I think that's so funny!
Mary Jane wrote this book with her brother in it. The kids play happily in the book, and it is such a lovely book for family and friends to read.
When I read this book with my Mum, I like to say, "Two minutes later," and "Five minutes later," in a funny voice, and it makes my Mum laugh.

It's absolutely perfect the way the author has chosen to honour her brother with this nostalgic story. I love the way this book brings back so many fond childhood memories of water fights in Summer here in Australia! My daughter and I love reading this book together and enjoy talking about the characters and who they remind us of in our own lives. I highly recommend this book for kids and adults alike. An all-around great book.

It is so beautiful the way that Mary Jane has chosen to honour her beautiful and kind brother. It is a story that most Aussie kids enjoy during summer. Every time I read the story to my two grandsons it makes them laugh. I highly recommend this book to all children and I look forward to seeing more from the author.

What a wonderfully written and cutely illustrated book that transports one from the current “screen age” back to the wholesome outdoor fun of hot summers and water play - including returning a bit back to what you received. Thanks, Mary Jane for sharing this fun childhood story.
