An abusive father. A dominant grandmother. And a boy with the voice of an angel.

Set in the early 20th century, Tom Holland is a young boy with an extraordinary talent for singing. Yet despite his love for music, his father and grandmother find it feminine and forbid him to follow his dream of becoming a professional singer. Through a serendipitous meeting he meets Sebastian Gallo, a retired opera singer, who takes Tom under his wing and begins secretly teaching him. Tom enters singing competitions, meets a love interest, and discovers a new world outside his own. But a series of unfortunate events threatens Tom’s dream, and he’s forced to face the darkness of his past before looking ahead to the light of his future.

Tom’s Song is a story of challenges, dreams, and a determined spirit to overcome all odds. It’s a story that teaches hope despite defeat, and that as long as you have hope, defeat cannot exist.

Born in northern California, E.E. Byrnes studied music in her youth, performing in multiple concerts and taking music courses in college. Erin pursued an equestrian career for several years before moving to Ireland, where she currently resides with her husband and three children. Along with writing, Erin enjoys hiking and reading.

I am a very slow reader. This book had my attention from the very start and read it in what was a record time for me. It seemed more like a love story to me, but it also was very entertaining and the author did a great job with describing every detail. I felt like I was there in the story.

I loved this book - Tom’s Song. Parents don’t realize how much damage they can do by quashing dreams. In this well written story the author introduces two young people suffering from the effects of overzealous parents. In the son’s case it was deliberate and extreme; in the daughter’s situation it was unwittingly done. The feelings of both young people are honestly explored and expressed, making the characters very real. Tom had my heart from the beginning. I can’t wait for more books by Ms. Byrnes!

A great read! A gripping story of love and dreams coming to fruition through faith and dedication to Tom’s opera dream.
