Book Description

Tracey the Māori fairy lives in the forest with the tuis. When a fierce storm destroys her home and precious cloak, Tracey worries she can’t leave and will let the children at the library down. With the encouragement from Mrs Tui, Tracey finds the courage to go and discovers a surprise is waiting for her!

With a sprinkle of magic dust, along with the help of her fairy friends and the wise Mrs Tui, Tracey discovers that kindness and teamwork can rebuild even what seems lost.

This gentle, uplifting tale celebrates courage, community, and the power of caring for each other.

Inspired by Fee Aspell’s years at St Heliers Library, each fairy character is based on a real friend who helped make her world a brighter place to be.

Fee Aspell is deaf, hemiplegic and now confined to a wheelchair. She worked at St Heliers Bay Library, in Auckland, for 23 years, until the end of 2021. Fee would like to thank all her friends that worked with her at the library for making her time at the library so much fun. Each one of them is represented as a fairy in this book.
