Troublesome Tom (T.T.) was born in eight minutes flat! Out like a bullet he came. Right from the start, he was a ‘WHAA WHAA’ baby. Constantly crying. Only his Grandad Tom could quieten this baby with his seemingly magical refrain and the drawing of the imaginary ‘face’ upon the face of that noisy, new, much-loved addition to the family. TROUBLESOME TOM! A story about the arrival of the much-wanted baby and the never-ending wisdom of grandparents and the ‘tricks of their trade’.

Barbara Herszenhorn lives in Lichfield Staffordshire. She spent many years working in education with children of all ages. She has two children and now spends her time writing her book series about Troublesome Tom (T.T.).

This story would resonate with any family! You could read it to children I’d say aged 2-7 and enjoy the story in itself, but it also gives a great opportunity to talk to them about what they were like as a newborn - which my daughter is always curious about. The children will love hearing about that as well as spotting and naming all the animals in the illustrations and identifying their eyes, ears, nose etc. It also has a theme of calming a baby to sleep - which I’m sure will be welcomed by any parent! There’s enough of a story to engage, but not so long that you run out of time before bedtime - super!
    Happy reading!

Great book of a new arrival to a family. Good for kids as it has sections of more challenging text, but also sections of repetition to help them feel like they are reading along. Cute story too!

Toooooo funny!! My 2-year-old loves the pictures but I'm ROFL over how much he is just like TT!
