Inspired by the letters written between her parents, True Love Conquers All fuses fact and fiction to tell the story of a British Army soldier posted to Germany in 1953 who falls passionately in love with a German secretary – at a time when both nations were scarred by a war that had only recently ended. It’s a story of Hitler’s rise to power told through the eyes of a German national who was there, the social histories of two nations who suddenly found themselves as friends…and a bold reminder that love transcends any and all adversity.

Susan R. E. Wall lives in Portsmouth, England. She founded her own company in 2003 providing bookkeeping and financial management service to proprietors of small to medium-sized businesses. Married since 1987 to Bill – her soulmate; together they have a wonderful daughter, Kathryn.

A passion for romance and storytelling led Susan to bring her most treasured possession, being a box of some more than 60 love letters between her parents, to life. It began as a project to simply collate the memorabilia she had inherited into a narrative for her daughter, as sadly, she never knew her grandparents.

This is a fascinating story of the author's mother growing up and living through difficult times in post-WW1 Berlin through the expansive period of the 1920s and Nazi Germany. A really insightful read

I’ve read the book (in one day ) it was really interesting from a historical point of view as well as a romantic story. I was thrilled that the lady’s sister worked at freeman’s same as my lovely Aunty Monica who also lived at Atholl Mansions (34) I enjoyed the book and it was an easy read .. some of the photos of letters were hard to read as the print was small but overall it was such a lovely story and a very interesting view of war from being on the other side .. fascinating !!
