Robert Dawson became interested in Gypsies at the age of 11. Evicted from education at the age of 14, he became a journalist and crime and police specialist. In 1977, he retrained as a teacher, retiring as a head. Since then he has written full time and is an acknowledged authority on British Romanies.
This was a very good read. An insight into the Romany people and beliefs as well as a good story.
Robert Dawson's book " Tuesday, Wednesday, Quake day" highlights how human greed can adversely affect our environment and those people whose lives depend upon it, in this case, the Gypsies. Presently we learn that the new government in Brazil is permitting the destruction of the Amazon rain forest on a massive scale, the largest carbon sink on the planet and source of as yet unknown species of medicinal flora and diverse fauna, threatening the very ability of this planet to support life. Having lived in New Zealand I know what earthquakes are, I have felt a few. To deliberately risk earthquakes in the search for energy resources is the height of criminal irresponsibility. The low oil price has presently halted "fracking" as uneconomic and hopefully, this pause will give authorities time to reconsider the wisdom of this enterprise. For the environmentally aware, I recommend this book.

I have just read the book by Robert Dawson "TUESDAY, WEDNESDAY, QUAKE DAY".
What a masterpiece on so many levels!
A truly moving story of siblings, who have everyday spats, but love each other unconditionally. A truly moving insight into the daily battles of Romany people in the British Isles. A truly moving story warning about the dangers of fracking and most of all a truly moving story of a small girl in touch with her long-dead grandma who still influences her family from beyond the grave. A masterpiece!!
