Umbo is no ordinary chimpanzee puppet. He is big and beautiful with a happy smile and full of life. Caroline is an enterprising grandma with a special talent for ventriloquism. She is a Welsh learner, but has a problem: she has to give a talk in Welsh to her Welsh class. Caroline and Dave moved to mid-Wales 20 years ago. She has always enjoyed reading to children but this is her first venture into writing a story. We hope you have as much fun reading the Umbo story as Caroline did writing it.

Scott is a young illustrator at the outset of his career. He has always loved children’s books. He believes illustrations should enhance the story and he has fully accomplished this with his charming images on these pages.

My children quickly fell in love with Umbo and want to read this book every bedtime. The illustrations are vibrant and beautifully complement the story. This book is a delight, more Umbo adventures please!

Definitely one for young children (actually probably some adults as well!). Learning how Umbo got out and about into the wider world with Caoline, that Wibbly Pig was a bit naughty and feeling that there were more adventures to come was a joyful, charming read that I'm sure people will love.

Having been introduced to Umbo recently, I applaud Caroline Jackson for a triumph. A book for children, maybe, but also a book for me, an adult / struggling Welsh student! The illustrations by Scott Keenan are a delight and, having met Umbo, the illustrations really do him justice.
