Caroline and Dave moved to mid-Wales 20 years ago. She has always enjoyed reading to children but this is her first venture into writing a story. We hope you have as much fun reading the Umbo story as Caroline did writing it.
Scott is a young illustrator at the outset of his career. He has always loved children’s books. He believes illustrations should enhance the story and he has fully accomplished this with his charming images on these pages.

Having been introduced to Umbo recently, I applaud Caroline Jackson for a triumph. A book for children, maybe, but also a book for me, an adult / struggling Welsh student! The illustrations by Scott Keenan are a delight and, having met Umbo, the illustrations really do him justice.

This is a delightfully well written book with a heart warming tale and wonderful illustrations. It will captivate the imagination of any young child as it tells the magical story of the loveable chimpanzee puppet Umbro, and his friend Caroline as they embark on their journey to learn Welsh and attend class together. I highly recommend this book to adults wishing to read stories aloud to their children and youngsters learning to read.
