Pam Richards was born in England in the late 1960s. She started her psychic journey at a young age and found Tarot in her late teens. She works as a clairvoyant and has previously worked as a therapist. Her wish to understand the deeper symbolism of the Tarot images has created this book.
She lives with her partner and cats in Portugal and the UK.

This book is incredible! It's so well-written, and great for a beginner and perfect as reference for anyone honing in on the practice of reading and understanding Tarot. The book is perfect and I have sought and read a lot of books on Tarot. Pam goes into details for every single card that refer to the RWS deck but can be applied to any deck through symbolism, suite, and numbers. It's a really good book to have on the shelf and can be easily referred to in practice.

The perfect no-nonsense guide to tarot. Doesn't matter if you are a beginner or have been using tarot for years, this book has something for everyone.
At 427 pages, this is a large book with a great in-depth look at each card. There are chapters on using your deck, tarot spreads, and superstitions.

As a new beginner, just learning to read tarot, I find this to be the most helpful book I've read so far. Pam's in depth descriptions of each card has helped me think outside the small descriptions I've read elsewhere. This will be my go-to book for quite awhile! (Love having it on Kindle for ease of use over all my devices!)

Understanding Tarot by Pam Richard’s is truly one of the best tarot books I’ve read. Nearly 400 pages, this book offers incredibly detailed descriptions of each card. Even after 12 years of practicing tarot, I realized how many small details, symbols, and even colors I’ve been overlooking. I highly recommend this book to tarot students of all levels, whether you are new or experienced. It’s a wonderful resource that really expands your knowledge and intuition of the cards!
