“I know why I’m here. You think I’m crazy, don’t you?”

Pam smiled sympathetically. “You didn’t fit into this world, Scarlet. You made a world in your head, one which you were able to unlock with a key you created in your subconscious thoughts. You are the key. You are the willow.

“Everything you’ve told me – the fire, your father’s murder, the loss of your mother, even the magic you experienced living with your grandparents are all reflected in the world you created.

“You’ve become confused, combining a perfect world which you crave with the hardships you’ve endured and turned everything upside down.

“You can’t really believe your step-father is possessed. I know it might seem that way considering the things he’s done, but we have to be realistic, Scarlet. There are no monsters here, only the ones in your head.”

Scarlet’s fingers curled around the warm Transportation Stone in her palm and she smiled knowingly, but said nothing.

Marianne Kusma was born and grew up in the city of Lincoln and at the time was the middle child of three girls. I haven’t picked up a book and committed in 12 years and this really had me hooked. The blend of humour and emotion of 4 children going through such difficult times is as perfect as it could get. One minute I would be laughing at the tongue and cheek humour, the next minute I’d be anxious for the main characters. It was a thrilling ride of emotions, laughter and imagination and can’t wait to see if the story continue. Really good for a new author and highly recommend for anyone who loves delving into fantasy worlds.

    Fantastic book.
I always say that the sign of a good book is when you can’t put it down!
It’s so true, this book is filled with mystery, and the author demonstrates a great descriptive technique.
This helps you get a feel for each individual character.
If you are looking for a book that keeps your interest and takes you on a fabulous fantasy journey, this is the book for you.
Well done Marriane on an amazing achievement.

Absolutely loved this book. I couldn’t stop picking it up to just read one more chapter. I was totally absorbed and wanting to know what happened. So sad to have finished it now. Can’t wait for your next book. It was different from my normal reads of crime or romance and I am so glad I have read it. Passing it to my 12 and 14-year-old to read they will love it.
