So much is lost when our parents or other close family members pass away. So many memories no longer available to us and so this is my gift to my children and my grandchildren, some memories of people, places and adventures we have had together.

For anyone visiting Cornwall and other places of natural beauty, there are so many adventures to be had and wonderful memories to be made. Go and make your memories together.

Cathy was brought up in Cornwall from the age of 10 on the family farm by her mum and dad, with her two sisters. She has always enjoyed the outdoor life and the diversity that Cornwall offers. Her work has revolved around children, young people and families within Health, Education, Children’s Services and the Voluntary Services. She lectured, for many years, on Child Care and Education before taking up a role within Learning and Development for Cornwall Council. Having retired, Cathy is now able to spend more time with her family and grandchildren, enjoying some of the activities that she enjoyed as a child and sharing some of those special places and adventures described in White Horses and Sunbeams.

This book covers the period from '60s to the present day and paints a vivid picture of life on a farm on the North Cornwall coast as a child, a mother and a grandmother. It evokes memories of long hot lazy summers on the beach, wet and wintry walks on Bodmin Moor and in Cornish woodlands and the joy of children and grandchildren. Throughout the book the author divulges the location of a few of her secret places - something that she may regret as readers may find them too. The descriptions will make readers want to gsearch them out, many obviously well off the beaten track. This is a gentle and nostalgic book. It is a good read for both those that recognise the places described and those that have yet to explore Cornwall.

An absolutely delightful read...three generations of family stories and history are woven into descriptions which make it easy to smell the salt air of Cornwall!!!.,
I want to walk the beach with the pups and watch those little people scoop up the crabs..The author describes a variety of ways that this part of Cornwall can be a vacation spot for families today...
What a wonderful reminder of how easy it could be to make sweet memories and strong connections in the special place called Cornwall and the beach at Polzeath!!

I absolutely love this book. I could almost imagine myself there. It also reminded me of the all the activities my husband and I had with our children and our grandchildren.
The way Cathy describes each place is great. You can get a picture in your mind of it and feel you’re there. I hope she has more books coming!

Beautifully written about a beloved home where each description makes you feel as if you are experiencing it along with the author. A sense, too, of the importance of family and continuity, as well as what is most important in life. I loved it and the beautiful pictures that accompanied the narrative.

I just wanted to say I loved your book. My family and I have been coming to Polzeath for nearly 60 years every year. My mum and dad were recommended to visit back in the ’60s and we have been visiting ever since, even bringing our children who just love it also, twice a year if we can. I was down in August and back again in October. It’s like coming home for me. I would love to live in Cornwall by the sea it’s a very magical place. Your book has been through the family and we all know the places you're talking about apart from never visiting ‘echo lake’ which sounds wonderful.
I found your book very enlightening bringing joy and happiness with wonderful memories On our travels we see the farmers and locals working hard all the time and reading your book was just a fascinating insight.
My father wants to know when is the next book coming out as we really can’t wait!
