It’s 1981 and twenty-nine-year-old Paula has fled from London to Norwich to escape her failed marriage and a disturbed past. But it seems her past is lying in wait for her, stalking the quiet Norfolk countryside and the bustling streets of Norwich, threatening to overwhelm her sanity and even end her life. Chillingly, she learns that something terrible will happen on her thirtieth birthday, which is only a few weeks away, but she has no idea where the threat is coming from or what form it will take. Paula’s picture of “Wild Marjoram”, painted by her dead mother, is meant to protect her, but Paula is fast losing confidence in it. Everybody she meets is somehow connected to her parents and her past, and Paula begins to realise that if she is to survive, she must somehow unveil her blocked memories and discover what it was that her parents really did during the war…
