A Blessed Journey of Two Pilgrims
Ruth and Russell Beazley, Order of Australia recipients, led extraordinary lives helping others in the service of God, first as missionaries in Arnhem Land, Australia and then in The Salvation Army, Darwin. Ruth was a Triple Certificate Sister; Russell was an excellent, innovative agriculturalist, growing the first-ever crops of peanuts and cypress seedlings, to go with pineapples, bananas, and cassava. As well he ran a saw-mill.
When the Whitlam government closed the missionaries, the Beazleys moved to Darwin. Ruth opened mobile Thrift shops across an immense area of the Top End. She supported financially the work of The Salvation Army Alcoholic Rehabilitation Centre where Russell was a Welfare Officer. He was also a part-time prison Chaplain to Berrimah Goal, and did 22 years of Hotel Visiting Ministry, retiring at 80. The Beazleys also ran an award-winning Companion Club in Darwin, and raised a family. Their service has evidenced “living life to the full”, and of coping magnificently with change. This is their compelling story.

A Book of Birds and Verse is a collection of good-humoured verse fused together with illustrations of some of our best-loved wild birds; birds that we may see every day in our gardens, towns and countryside.
The writer and wildlife artist Joseph Johnson has combined his talents of painting and writing to bring the reader a presentation of a number of Britain’s favourite wild birds, each one introduced through rhyming verse.
Joseph has enjoyed a lifelong love of the natural world and is a keen conservationist. He has written this collection of short illustrated poems with a humour which will introduce, entertain and perhaps educate the young reader as well as the maybe not so young to many of the characteristics of the subjects.

A Cat and Eight Kittens
In A Cat and Eight Kittens, an ordinary cloudy morning walk transforms into an extraordinary adventure for a mother cat and her eight kittens. Little could they imagine the whirlwind of events that would unfold after a chance encounter with an irate dog.
The story takes a thrilling turn when the feline family, seeking refuge from the persistent pursuit of a large brown dog and the relentless rain, stumbles upon what they believe could be their new home. It is here that Spot, the mischievous, snow-white kitten with a distinctive black spot over his right eye, leads the kittens to an incredible discovery: a mysterious sphere with flashing lights. This sphere astonishingly materializes food at the mere mention of it, a feature that, as their mother had feared, attracts the attention of their canine pursuers.
The tension escalates when the dogs arrive in search of the source of the tantalizing scents. It’s then that the young kittens unleash their playful yet ingenious tactics to outwit their pursuers. However, a mishap occurs when Felix, one of the kittens, disappears due to an unintended consequence of a wish.
Just when it seems all hope is lost, the story culminates in a heartwarming twist. The cat family finds themselves reunited, including Felix, in a picturesque setting: a serene farm by a lake, complete with a loving owner.

A Clarinet Almanac
More than 60 years’ experience in playing the clarinet has led to a very personal and idiosyncratic review of the repertoire. From the point of view of being both a player and a programmer the author has endeavoured to find works for unusual combinations involving the clarinet. This book includes a few orchestral solos and several vocal works (both chamber and operatic), but it is focussed on chamber music and includes gems from the repertoire for the standard wind quintet. The clarinet features as a solo instrument, in duos with a surprisingly large variety of instruments and in mixed trios, quartets and so on to larger ensembles. During the course of one year the reader will be exposed to 366 works, probably some unfamiliar, by 245 different composers. The author hopes it will whet the appetites of students, teachers and concert organizers alike.
