Influenced by the visionary imagination of William Blake and the characters he created in The Four Zoas and Jerusalem, The Liberation of Albion is both a theogony, creation myth and tale of spiritual development.
An epic poem that both engages with the past and exists firmly within modernity, the story follows the grand-man Albion and the grand-woman Jerusalem, as their lives are touched by fate and they find themselves embroiled in the desires and whims of the gods. When Albion is chained, bound, and laid low, Jerusalem is left to face the world alone.
The Liberation of Albion seeks to reignite the imagination of modernity and reveal once more the intricate links between narrative, meaning, truth and beauty.

The Lie

The Life and Times of the Knights

Alfred Fredrick John Knight was born in Yeovil to his mother Amelia and father George. When Alfred was three years old, George his father left Amelia telling her that he was taking their son Alfred with him. George took Alfred and in secret eloped with his lover to Wales. Alfred was later adopted and lived with his adopted family talking to the family about emigrating to Canada. He told his family that he wanted to stay in England and try and find his birth mother.

He left home and went back to Yeovil, but there was no trace of his mother, he did manage to find his grandmother Mary, who was still alive. While looking for a job, he saw a sign which read, ‘YOUR COUNTRY NEEDS YOU!’ Alfred then decided that he wanted to become a soldier and join the British Army. After joining up with Prince Albert’s light infantry, the Somerset Light Infantry was sent out to India to fight the rebellion.

The Light of the World

Why are we destroying our world, a world without which, we cannot live? Our world is unique, it has everything in it that we need and more. It is living and breathing and moves around very slowly so that each and every part of it has day and night. It has amazing landscapes and sights which are breath-taking. Amazing wildlife, oceans and mountains, rivers and forests. Without all this the world would not exist. It is a living and breathing planet which must be protected!

We cannot continue to take what we want without considering the consequences.

We must love it and care for it, and put back what we have taken. We must work together regardless of where we live, regardless of race, religion, or colour.

We are in danger of upsetting the balance of the world and destroying it. We have had a warning and a pandemic!

In our lives we encounter many difficult or tricky situations that can make us upset or angry. Susanna prefers to see The Lighter Side of life when this happens. Many of the stories share Susanna’s husband’s journey along his terminal illness pathway—cancer is a beast! It attacks suddenly, without warning and without manners. It is unrelenting, unmerciful and does not care for feelings. It demands power and wins in the end. Despite Susanna’s incredible efforts to extend her husband’s life, the ‘beast’ became the victor. The Lighter Side shows that all experiences are opportunities to make the most of life’s Pandora's box. It can either be a treasure trove of goodies, as Pandora had expected, or it can be a box of moths! Susanna’s sagas are her Pandora's box – her chocolate box of mixed delights that she shares with her friends. Her readers all tell her how they respond to each different story, and she is always fascinated by their different responses—we all respond differently to life’s encounters.

The Little Book of Elderflowers and Berries

The amazing elder tree produces wonderful, fragrant, cream flowers followed by rich, burgundy-coloured berries. Used as culinary ingredients, both can be turned into so many exciting recipes. The contrasting flavours are quite different, and this is reflected in how they are used.
Elderflowers are fragrant and light, giving inspiration for cool sorbets, foamy desserts, cheesecakes and creamy panna cottas. Elderberries are rich and dark with an intense flavour. These can be used to make wonderful drinks as well as cakes, pastries, bread and savoury dishes.

The Little Book of Sloes and Crab Apples

Sloes are not just for making gin, they are an extremely interesting fruit with an intense flavour. Together with crab apples, these magical ingredients have inspired me to create thirty original recipes. Crab apple recipes include Toffee Apple Cupcakes, Strudel and Preserves. Sloes I have used to create drinks, chocolates with gin-soaked sloes and recipes for the festive season.
All the recipes are visually illustrated with full colour photographs and are easy to prepare and make.
