Flora and Fauna Part 1

This is one of a series of stories about the great Orme goats in Llandudno. On 31 March 2020, a group of 122 Kashmiri goats captured the world’s attention on social media and television, and from the United States of America to Australia, when they came down off the mountain and into the streets of Llandudno, eating all the shrubs and plants in people’s gardens. Some of the homeowners and businesses moved them on, but most people let them be and filmed or photographed them.

The world press was in attendance on 14 September 2021 during a five-hour rescue mission by the RSPCA, coastguards and Conwy council trying to rescue 15 stranded goats from Austin’s rock, but unfortunately, one was killed.

On 8 February 2022 police were called to an incident when fighting Kashmiri goats locked horns in an Asda car park causing chaos and gridlock.

Sometimes the goats disrupted traffic wherever they went, but fair play to the motorists, they gave the goats a wide berth as they roamed the streets in search of food.

Because of the pandemic and the lack of people and holidaymakers, they knew they would be safe.

Even now, in 2022, people from all over the world are still coming to Llandudno especially to see the goats.

Forever Bear

As the Christmas jumble sale begins, Fred feels a shiver of excitement run down the patches of fur on his back. Could this be the day he’d been longing for? Would someone kind buy him and take him to their home? However, as all the other toys at the jumble sale appear more popular and are quickly snapped up by passing children, it seems Fred’s destiny is to be returned to the dark cupboard from where he came. Is Fred’s heart’s desire never to be?

A delightful short story with many endearing characters to enchant and warm your heart.

Fred the Fly

Some things in life can be quite annoying at times - like flies, spiders, and mosquitoes.

However, it is important to remember that every living thing is trying to make its way through life in the best way it can. We all are.

Some lives are pretty tricky though. And you know, we have all annoyed someone at some point – even you have – but that doesn’t mean that we are bad and deserve to be squished!

This is a little story about some things which you might have experienced… and it might make you think a little differently about them. Or it might not. That is for you to decide.

If truth be known, before aspiring witches don their first witch dress, prior to proudly receiving their pointy black hats, before envisaging their first successful magic spell or before imagining mixing their first potion, every hopeful witch fantasises of the day she takes flight on her very own broomstick.

For a young witch, nothing is more rewarding than to fly high into the sky amongst the fluffy clouds and let the world pass them by far below, BUT NOTE, not all witch broomsticks are made the same! Just like people, each flying broomstick has its own personality. The majority are nice, some are stubborn, a few are nasty and a handful have a wicked sense of humour. Some broomsticks are painfully slow through the air and others are blurringly fast.

The auspicious day had finally arrived when the ebullient witches attending witch school are going to be presented with their long awaited witch brooms. Will Frigity the witch receive the flying broomstick of her dreams or will she be handed her worst nightmare? However, care is needed in the potions class because mixing the wrong potions together may result in catastrophe i.e. blowing up the school along with everyone in it!
