Author Niloufer Mavalvala Featured in Popular Lifestyle Blog 'The Better India'

The author of the book based on home cooking recipes, Niloufer Mavalvala was featured along with her book titled: The Art of Parsi Cooking: Reviving an Ancient Cuisine in the popular lifestyle blog site, The Better India. The feature mentions the ancient recipe of the unique Parsi delicacy that has a rich history imparting its culinary delight throughout the ages from the 1700s to modern times. The dish, locally called a ‘batasa’ originated is the subcontinent region is based on three simple ingredients: Flour, water and toddy or palm wine. It has since been modified and customized to individual regions with varied tastes like the inclusion of butter, ghee or cheese along with various seeds.

 

Niloufer Mavalvala​ has re-introduced the art of Parsi cooking in the modern context shaped by her Persian and Pakistani cuisine’s heritage. Her book is a well-written cookbook with mouth-watering recipes and beautifully illustrated pictures of her tempting dishes.

 

Born and raised in Karachi, Pakistan, Niloufer’s love for her traditional Parsi cuisine developed from her sweet childhood memories of indulging in the tasty delicacy with her father when they used to spend every morning having the same delicacy for the breakfast. She gave her first cooking class at the age of 17 to a group of school girls. Since then, she has gone on to deliver many more classes around the world including famous destinations in UAE, Canada and the UK. In 2013, she started her own recipe blog by the name of Niloufer’s Kitchen where she likes to share her unique recipes. She has also written 10 online cookbooks and is also a contributor for the Huffington Post and other assorted magazines around the world.
