The main character Queenie encourages Amy and Samuel to speak up against any kind of abuse and inform their elders. The author Alison Hale, aged 45, had been the victim and survivor of child abuse. The aim of her stories is to raise awareness in children about child abuse. Her stories mostly address the protective techniques to adapt in violent, abusive and fearful situations. She believes that her stories can help teenagers to speak up at the right time against any kind of abuse.
