Diane Lyle Launches Her Poetry Book, Patchwork

Diane Lyle Launches Her Poetry Book, Patchwork

Our notable author Diane Lyle held a book launch event for her poetry book, Patchwork, on Friday, 21st August at Chang Thai Pub, Ludlow. Due to the COVID-19 restrictions, only 30 people were permitted to attend the event, out of which 25 people turned up given the adverse weather conditions. The event was to be held outside the venue under gazebos but the rain relocated it to inside the bar. After serving the dinner, she recited two poems from Patchwork, and two from her upcoming book, Love, Life and Lockdown. She signed copies for her readers on the occasion and managed to distribute many copies of the book.

Patchwork is an anthology of poems, evoking in readers a plethora of emotions and love, as they progress towards the end. Unlike her other books, Patchwork doesn’t follow a set pattern of set themes; it is arranged in alphabetical order of their titles on purpose, taking the readers on an unpredictable ride. Diane Lyle takes inspiration from daily-life events and all things recognized in everyday life—whether trivial subjects or large-scale. She writes with clarity in her thoughts and sensitivity towards diverse emotions, and for the same reason, her poems create vivid imagery in her readers’ minds.

Diane Lyle is a well-reputed poet who writes in a variety of styles and on diverse topics. Her first book, Love Shades, was published in 2011, followed by another, A Ludlow Love Affair, in 2015. Her works have been published in many anthologies. Her poems are easy-to-read and resonate with readers of varied backgrounds.
