Gherardo Scapinelli di Léguigno
Descendant of an ancient Italian family, son of Giorgio, a highly decorated Navy officer of the Second World War, and Francesca Ivanich, sister of Adriana, Hemingway's last great love. Graduate of the Academy of Fine Arts in Venice, he served in the Navy onboard a destroyer, worked for an offshore oil rig installation company, founded a hazardous materials transport company in Greece, was chief operating officer of a healthcare company. A well-known sailor, he enjoys challenging off-road driving in Africa, the Far East, India, South/North America, speaks; Italian, English, French, Spanish, and a fair amount of Greek. Married with two daughters, he lives between Como, Venice, and Sardinia.
