Spring, Easter & International Children’s Book Day: Stories That Make This Season Feel Special

Spring, Easter & International Children’s Book Day: Stories That Make This Season Feel Special

There is something special about this time of year, and it is hard to put your finger on exactly what it is. It is as if the world is awakening from its winter slumber and bringing new life back into the world. It is also a time of year when families begin thinking about how they will celebrate Easter and what sorts of treats and gifts they will give each other. Right in the middle of it all is something special for readers everywhere: International Children’s Book Day.

In the midst of all of this celebrating and activity, it is the books that really make this season special. And if you really think about it, is there not a special time of year to give a child a story?

Why This Season Is Perfect for Children’s Books

There is something special about spring. The flowers bloom, and animals come out. The world is fresh and new. And there is something similar that happens when a child opens a new book.

There is curiosity. There is excitement. And there is that special time when a child enters a completely new world.

But what makes International Children’s Book Day more important than we think is that it is not just celebrating books. It is celebrating imagination, learning, and fun.

And let’s be honest, children do not need much. They need books that make them smile, laugh, and wonder... and maybe even pose some questions.

The Supercar Colouring Book

The Supercar Colouring Book is perfect for kids who want to create. The book is very detailed and fun, and kids will have a great time slowing down and focusing on what they are doing. From classic cars to supercars, every page is like a little project waiting to be finished.

The Last Words of Albion

The Last Words of Albion is one of those children's books that combines poetry and history in a way that is more gentle than it is dense. It does not bombard children with information but gradually introduces it in a way that is visually and poetically appealing.

It is a book that you don't read quickly. You read it slowly. And somehow, along the way, you begin to realize how stories can link past and present in a very simple and beautiful way.

How to Be the World’s Worst Secretary

How to Be the World’s Worst Secretary is chock-full of mishaps, awkward moments, and general unsuccess. And that’s exactly what makes it so entertaining.

Cat In The Prickle Bush

It’s one of those stories that’s simple, but sticks with you.

Cat In The Prickle Bush is a story about a child who wants to help a cat, no matter what. It’s a fun story, a little silly, and very realistic.

You can almost imagine this happening in real life where a child wants to do everything they can to help a cat, even if it doesn’t make much sense.

The Ohmy

There’s something special for every child. A little mystery, not too much mystery or just enough so they wonder.

The Ohmy does just that  creates a world for the reader where nothing is as it seems. There’s a sense of wonder, a hint of tension and a sense of “what’s going to happen next?”

Those are the stories children remember. The ones they think about even after they’re finished reading them.

Kitty Cat Tails

Some books make you feel comfortable, and Kitty Cat Tails is one of those.

These stories of cats and their little adventures are comfortable, simple, and easy to read. These stories are ideal for bedtime reading or for times when kids want something quiet and relaxing.

There is no tension in this book. It is just simple storytelling, some adventures, and lots of heart.

The Food Lady and Bucky

Stories about how to be kind without feeling preachy are always best.

The Food Lady and Bucky is a great example of this. It has sharing, understanding, and looking out for others, and all of these things are mentioned in a very natural and not preachy way.

Children don't feel preached at because they just see it happen.

Adesua’s Safari Adventure

There are books that transport kids to a new place, and that is always an exciting experience.

In Adesua's Safari Adventure, the theme of animals, nature, and learning is well combined. It is an interesting story because it is kept light and fun, something kids need. Learning is organic.

Jenson and the Juggernaut

This is a story based on something very simple, curiosity. Jenson and the Juggernaut is a story that represents that moment of curiosity when a child sees something exciting and wants to know more about it. Trucks, new experiences, and curiosity, which children have in abundance.

Why These Stories Matter

If you look at all of these books collectively, you’ll see something.

They are all different.

They are funny. They are calm. They are adventurous. They are thought-provoking.

But they are also similar because they offer children the chance to discover something. Not the world around them. But the power of their own imagination.

And that is what reading at this age is about.

Not about pressure, not about perfection but about discovery.

A Small Thought for This Season

Easter is full of small joys. Time with family, time with tradition, small surprises along the way.

Perhaps this year, along with all the rest, there might just be time for something else. A book which is simple and fun.

One that a child might be able to grab for themselves and read at their own pace.

Because toys come and go, but stories last.
