Mike Payne

A man with a head full of ideas captured colourful images and wrapped them into a cocoon with his mother’s words shared with love. Mike Payne held these beautiful thoughts throughout his corporate career. Eventually, he left the hustle and bustle of the office…

…to follow his dreams.

Moving into cartoons, imagery, and design, his passion for drawing began to take shape. He had been drawing since he was a baby in a cot. He crayoned on the walls through the bars to conjure those ideas that floated in every part of his being.

Sketching, drawing and creative ideas were a major part of his life as he grew up. He recalls that he always had a pencil and paper in his hand. To his amazement, when he was five years old his mother said,

Kevin Thomson

Originally from just outside Newcastle-on-Tyne, Kevin Thomson has lived just outside Abingdon-on-Thames for the last 30 years. He has two children and two grandchildren and is very proud of them all. Working in marketing and design most of his life as sales director, copywriter, and creative director, gave Kevin the kick he needed (finally!) to write Willy and Wally, his first children’s book.

However, Lola’s true passion has always been to create her own children’s stories that would inspire and delight young readers worldwide. She firmly believes that children’s books should not only teach valuable lessons but also provide a sense of fun and adventure for their readers. With her upcoming books, Lola aims to ignite the imaginations of children everywhere and inspire them to embark on exciting journeys through her storytelling.

Kevin Crump

After years of working as a professional nerd in IT project management, Kevin Crump decided to give his more creative side a whirl. So, he then spent six months doing nothing but writing The Quay, living on dust and enthusiasm, and rarely showering. This was well-received (the book, that is, not the questionable personal hygiene). Then sometime after that, he added The Storm to the series and now works with lifeboats – these two things are purely coincidental.

Des Lynam

Des Lynam OBE spent a long career as a sports broadcaster, mostly with the BBC. Lately, he has turned to writing, of which this little effort is an example…
Bryony is the wife of Des’s great friend and colleague, the late Jimmy Hill.
