Catherine Bailey began her travels at the age of sixteen, exchanging school for Central America and the deserts of New Mexico and Arizona. She trained at RADA, launching her career in London’s West End theatres, Hampstead Theatre, the National Theatre and on worldwide tours. She went on to produce for television and radio, where she won several Sony Awards. She produced David Cronenberg’s movie, Spider and the hit series, The Dark is Rising, for BBC World Service. This is her first novel, based on her debut as a documentary filmmaker, shooting a film that nearly cost her life.

I loved this book! Its a gem. I was looking for something for holiday read and this hit the mark. Enthralling true story of lost treasure and modern day shipwreck with the author herself navigating and somehow surviving this adventure. Loved it.

A wonderful recollection of a terrifying journey which the author not only managed to survive but also discovered personal strengths that helped her cope with those 75 Men and the Shipwreck. A really good read and highly recommended.

Brilliantly mixes the personal story with a compelling and exciting narrative. informative whilst being entertaining - it manages to meld a personal journey of discovery with the discovery of treasure and survival. It would be for anyone who likes a tale of 'daring' and suspense along with those that like human angle.

The shipwreck chapters are brilliantly tense and Catherine Bailey vividly describes the unglamorous business of hunting for treasure under the ocean - the heat,the stench of oil and the unceasing noise. She is amazingly undaunted in all this.Those 57 men are a very motley crew. Her only female "companion" is a copy of Persuasion by Janes Austen.
