Book Description

This well-written, lively, and sometimes humorous book contains short and sweet mathematical facts combining high school algebra and very elementary number theory. There are many examples.

The book also contains many questions of varying levels of difficulty for the reader, and it features suggestions for high school research projects. Moreover, the book offers a gentle introduction to methods of proof in mathematics. Several conjectures that seem to defy proof are presented.

The book is a useful tool for high school and college mathematics teachers and students. Finally, rest assured that the book will be enjoyed by students, their teachers, and anyone who likes mathematics.

Professor Emeritus Martin Lewinter has a PhD in mathematics. He has published 5 books and over 100 journal articles in mathematics. His main interests are graph theory, number theory, differential geometry, and the history of mathematics. He is a classical guitarist, has orchestrated many music albums, and has an MFA in music.

Doctor Anthony Delgado has a master’s degree in mathematics and a PhD in mathematics education. He has published approximately 20 journal articles in graph theory and number theory. He is a world-class handball player. He started loving mathematics in middle school and joined a math team in high school. He believes that a good college professor should do research and be an excellent teacher.

Dr. Anthony Delgado has dozens of publications in mathematics. He discovered his passion for math at an early age; taught by his mother, whose family escaped from China, he was advanced enough to study calculus by the seventh grade. Dr. Delgado believes educators should inspire children to love math through engaging examples rather than rote memorization of formulas and routine homework problems. Outside of academia, he is a world-class handball player and won the National A Singles Championship in 2017.
