Modern society is not insular but a mixed cultural entity. Navara de Wijoo is a retired head and neck cancer surgeon who worked for over forty years. He has seen the agony of a terrible disease hitting many, though luckily only a few children. Navara has come across patients who opened his eyes to some issues. In his view, we cannot write imaginary stories that readers can’t perceive. Even in sci–fi novels, aliens have eyes and ears! His wife is a doctor, a General Practitioner, who is an old-style practitioner and is based in semi-rural Kent. Both used to talk about their own experiences, which made a mark on his mind.
