Book Description

Sometimes we are told new babies are on the way.

Sometimes we find out that they were not born to stay.

Sometimes when the sky turns dark at night,

We see those very special babies; they are the stars that shine bright.

Explaining loss to a little one is never easy, and explaining the loss of a baby is even tougher. This book was written to help families in this position and to offer a little bit of light.

Suzanne Brooks is a wife, mother and teacher, living in South East England with her boys and handsome spaniel. She is also a volunteer for her local SANDS group, supporting bereaved families for nearly a decade. She is also the proud mummy to her very own special star, Evie. This is a book she wishes she had then. She hopes that, if you are in need of this book, it brings both big and little readers a little comfort and a little light when it might be needed.

When your world has been turned upside down and your heart feels so heavy. Explaining to a child about a loss can feel so hard. The illustrations in this book are lovely and calming and the story is beautifully written with a real heartfelt understanding of loss. Would highly recommend this book to help families going through such a heartache.

Not a dry eye in the house but a lot more understanding about infant loss and how to explain it to a child.

Its a tough read for an adult, however, its a very beautifully written story in gentle prose, perfectly created to explain such a sad and complex event in ways a young mind can comprehend. As someone who has lost a child pre birth, it touched me, and in doing so, this author has acheived every writers goal. Congratulations Suzanne, I hope it helps many families come to terms with such sorrowful events.
