Book Description

This book follows a couple navigating the challenges of pregnancy and parenthood. The author explores the difficulties of raising a newborn while striving to maintain their relationship as a couple.

It offers insight into the pitfalls couples often face once the initial euphoria of a relationship fades. It also examines how relationships can become a journey of personal growth, where partners support each other’s attachment styles, communicate through love languages, and heal past emotional wounds stemming from childhood adversity.

Suzanne Amanda Duvall, the middle child of five, and daughter of John Watson Quinn and Terressa Amelia Barkley, has been a kindergarten teacher for many years. John and Terressa, who met and married after the Second World War, established their own family life. Her father, a Protestant born in Ireland, was a lecturer in Geography at the secondary Teachers College. Her mother became a stay-at-home mother, and did extra work dressmaking for clients from a shop in Auckland.

After Suzanne first graduated from The Auckland Kindergarten Teachers College in Auckland, New Zealand, she worked as an early years educator, teaching in New Zealand, London, Australia, Vietnam, and the UAE. In 2008, Suzanne graduated from Griffith University in Queensland with a master’s degree in early childhood. After her first husband, David Baty, died, she went to teach overseas. When she returned to Australia, she went to Latrobe University and graduated with her diploma in counselling. She then started her counselling business in Sydney.

Suzanne then married her second husband, Michael Duvall, the father of her child, in New York in 2022. They both returned to Sydney where Michael later died in 2024.
