I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily. I just never can resist a book about animals, and when I got the request to review this book I couldn’t say no! I was also curious about the mirror part. In this one we meet an adorable orange cat named Georgina! She is totally happy with her life, but starts to doubt things when she sees a dog having the best of lives. No care about anything, just eating how he wants to eat, do what he wants to do. Thankfully for Georgina, she has a magical mirror that grants wishes and so she wishes to become a dog instead of a cat! Everyone knows that wishes may not be the best thing, so I was curious to see how it would go. And at first Georgina is having the best of times, exciting adventures, just eating and guzzling the food, smelling all the smells. But what happens when the worst nightmare for cats appears, water. Yep. Dogs need to be washed at times, especially when spending so many adventures outside (then again, cats at times can also use baths, haha). I felt for Georgina, but then again, she wanted to be a dog, so she has to live with this as well. I won’t spoil anything, but I am happy with what Georgina choose in the end, it wasn’t unexpected, but I am happy that through this experience she learned a lesson. As for the question mentioned in the blurb, do you wish you could be someone else? Yes. Definitely. At times I wouldn’t mind being different. I got eczema and also issues with my body image, so it would be nice if I could look in the mirror and see something else. Something prettier. Then again, if I was someone different I wouldn’t have my hubby, nor the life I have, who knows what I had then. So I will just stick with who I am now. Not sure if this was an issue on my Kindle app, but the book’s formatting didn’t entirely work for me. I would have one illustration and then the next page is text. The first page of text was mushed in with the dedication, which is why I was a bit confused. The illustrations, well, I wasn’t entirely a fan of them. Some parts I did like, like how Georgina looked as both cat and dog. But the way the food looked/how dog/cat ate, no. Or how it felt like there were two styles of illustration. However, I am happy that someone hasn’t picked AI to do the work for them, so yes, it may not be my favourite, but I am still appreciative of it as it is. All in all, I had fun with this adorable picture book and I am happy I got the chance to read it. I would recommend it.
