Beep is a cute little robot who loves nothing more than playing with his friends. They have lots of fun together, but Beep sometimes feels he doesn’t fit in. You see, Beep has autism, and he views the world slightly differently from his friends, making it harder for him to join in their games. In this heart-warming story, it shows the obstacles Beep must face every day and his struggle to be accepted. It shows how he can find it hard to interact with his friends and how it makes him feel. Luckily, Mum is there to explain and help him understand that being different is not a bad thing, and it can even have its advantages.The next day at nursery, Beep gets to prove this when his friend Roar can’t complete a puzzle that he finds too difficult. Beep steps in and helps him finish it as puzzles are easy for him. His friends tell Beep how they are happy that he is there to help them, and they think he is very clever – which he is! They wish they were as clever as him.So, follow little Beep on his journey to find understanding and acceptance in a world that can appear scary and overwhelming for a little robot with autism.

This is a very positive book that portrays autism in a genuine, sensitive and realistic way while sharing a positive message. My 11 year old autistic son thought it was very appropriate for younger readers. He said it would have been good if the kids in his primary school had read it to understand him better.

This is a lovely book that explores neurodiversity through the eyes of Beep a little robot. Beep is autistic and feels that sometimes he doesn’t fit in with the other children because he does things differently. His mother reassures him that he his perfect the way he is and that everyone is unique and different. Beep then comes to realise that his friends love him for who he is and admire the things he is able to do.

I was thrilled to receive a copy of Deborah’s debut children’s book about an autistic robot called Beep. It’s a lovely bedtime story with really colourful illustrations and you don’t need any knowledge of autism to appreciate the message of just being yourself. My six year old loved the story and it’s on regular rotation at story time now. He can actually read it himself which is a bonus. My little reviewers comments “I like the pictures and I like Roar the lion because I like lions!” This is a book I would recommend to schools who are looking for diverse books for infants. It’s written in a nice easy style and shows some of the traits of autism in an accessible way.

I work in a 3-5 yrs early years setting and bought tbis book for the children to recognise everyone is not the same and its ok to be different. I am the literacy champion and this book is my book of the month.

I recently bought this book for my two young cousins (3yo & 6yo). One of them struggles with concentration but they managed to sit the whole way through my reading of this and enjoyed it thoroughly. They especially loved the main character, Beep, and thought he was very cute. This was a great book to raise autism awareness in their age group.

As an autistic person, I would have loved something like this to read as a child that shows autism in a positive light and also highlights that i am not alone in my struggles with neurodivergency.

I would highly recommend this book.
