Book Description

Finding it hard to get to sleep?

Ever been afraid of the dark?

Meet Jessie, an eight-year-old girl who is very scared.

Alone in her room at bedtime, Jessie creates a unique way to cope with being frightened and lonely…

Finding a secret magical place, she explores ways to deal with her worries alongside an unusual furry friend.

Imagine that…

Wriggle down and join Jessie and her friend JoJo, as they meet the ‘bother-bugs’ and learn about true friendship.

A qualified drawing and talking therapist, Mrs P has worked with children between the ages of 5 and 10 for the last 7 years. Her work guiding children through difficult and dark times as an Emotional Literacy Support Assistant (ELSA), coupled with her love of illustration compelled her to tell a story that resonated with those she is passionate to support. Offering them an imaginary world where troubles needn’t seem so bad. Having worked in the airline industry for 32 years, Mrs P has friends globally. She is a mentor, a mother, a grandmother and a self-confessed crazy cat lady.

A lovely story with a message and tools to help navigate some difficult feelings in younger years. Tools that will help throughout life. Beautifully illustrated. A story that will be a joy to read to little ones and a book they'll enjoy reading as they get older and with an important message that can make a positive impact on their lives.

"... I like the story about the kangaroos, the baby kangaroo is called Jojo, and is very cute, Jojo also has a floppy ear and I also like the meaning of the story. The meaning of the story is basically about overcoming your fears and just being yourself..." review by Christa, aged 8 years old

This book is just simply beautiful and was so relevant to me as I grew up without brothers or sisters and used to crave that escapism through imagination. The story is well written with love and empaty by someone who clearly understands childhood worries and how to deal with them. Our school was fortunate enough to be visited by Mrs P and the children loved her! Her experience of having worked in a school and been an Elsa shine through as an author. I highly recommend both Mrs P and this book and look forward to reading book number 2 should this be written.
