Precious stones, high-value trades, death threats, bandits, hidden treasure and mineral splendour: eminent journalist and storyteller Richa Goyal Sikri takes us on a rollercoaster ride across the length and breadth of Africa with 24 short adventure stories based on true events spanning the last 60 years and starring some of the most extraordinary personalities ever to walk the face of our planet.

Richa Goyal Sikri is a journalist and storyteller specialising in gemstones, diamonds and vintage and contemporary jewellery. She has a bachelor’s degree in commerce, a master’s degree in business administration and has completed several courses with the Gemological Institute of America (GIA) including ‘Colored Stone Grading’ and ‘Gem Identification’.

She spent the first 20 years of her career as executive director of STIC Travel Group, Asia’s leading travel and tourism organisation. Richa has pursued her second career in the gem and jewellery sector since 2018, delivering talks, projects, digital storytelling campaigns and articles for many notable organisations including the Art Science Museum in Singapore, the Asian Institute of Gemmological Studies (AIGS, Thailand), Buccellati, publications like ELLE, Harper’s Bazaar, Robb Report, India Today, Vogue, Fabergé, Gemfields, the Gem and Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC) of India, GemGenève (Geneva), the Gemological Institute of America (GIA), the Global Congress of the International Colored Gemstone Association (ICA), the Gem and Jewellery Association of Sri Lanka, the Natural Diamond Council, the World Emerald Symposium (Colombia), and the World Jewellery Confederation (CIBJO).

Richa lives with her husband and son in Singapore and experiences FOMO every time someone calls her from a gemstone mine.
