Book Description

Life seemed idyllic for the glamorous couple, a big house in the country, a successful career and a loving husband and child, what could be more perfect? Everyone wanted her life.

But behind closed doors it was a very different matter. With slow realisation, she realised she had married a monster. With no one and nowhere to turn to, would she survive?

M.C. Fox, born in Edinburgh and raised in the scenic Scottish Borders, has had a diverse and inspiring journey. She built a successful career as a general manager for a prominent retail company and contributed as a writer for a well-known sporting magazine. After her marriage ended, she completed her degree with the Open University, before continuing higher education, earning a postgraduate degree with master’s credits in Primary Education with the UHI.

M.C. Fox’s achievements include being honoured as a Commonwealth Baton Bearer and serving as a poster representative for the Edinburgh Marathon. She currently resides in the Scottish Borders, where she finds joy in teaching at a local primary school. As a devoted single mother, she cherishes her time with her daughter.

Perfectly Woven Lies is her captivating debut novel, marking her first step into the world of fiction writing.

I bought this novel as a holiday read and all I can say is WOW! From start to finish, I was hooked! Lying round the pool, at the beach and even sitting at the dinner table, I couldn't wait to turn the next page. It's the best book I've read in a long, long time would highly recommend it. Only snag is, I'm now waiting, not very patiently for the sequel! Wishing M C Fox all the very best for the future but what a truly amazing start she's made to her career as an author!

What a debut! Powerful, emotional, gripping and characterful - some you want to cry with, some you want to punch and others you just want to open their eyes and see what is happening under their noses. It’s a rollercoaster coaster from start to finish!

What an incredible book, absolutely could not put it down and managed to read half of it in less than a day. The twists and turns for poor Isla, how my heart absolutely hurt for her on so many occasions, incredible. MC Fox is such a talented writer. For this to be your first official novel, wow, just wow.

I have been up all night as reading this fantastic novel as one more page turned into one more chapter and I just had to carry on reading to find out if Isla was ever going to be free. She has been written as an amazing resilient character and you cannot help but root for her. I really hope there will be a sequel as want to find out what she'll do next.

This story grips a hold of you from the first page to the very last. I have so many questions! On many occasions I found myself offering Isla advice (even shouting) when another twist was served. A fantastic portrayal of the complexities surrounding a relationship which, from the outside, should be “easy to leave”. The gaslighting, the hope, the masking and most importantly the importance of survival. I didn’t want to put the book down!!! Isla and Sophie have stolen my heart and I’m very impatiently waiting to hear more about what comes next for them. An incredible debut novel from the clearly very talented writer, Mo Fox!

We devoured this book—and we’re still reeling! From the very first page, Perfectly Woven Lies had us hooked. Getting inside James’s head was a masterclass in psychological tension: scary, terrifying, and utterly brilliant. His manipulations left us breathless, flipping pages late into the night, desperate to see how far he’d go—and whether Isla would survive it. And Isla. Oh, Isla. We rooted for her with every twist and turn. Her resilience, her quiet strength, the way she began to reclaim her voice—it was impossible not to cheer her on. She’s the kind of protagonist who lingers long after you finish the final page! This is story that doesn’t just entertain—it unsettles, provokes, and lingers. The author has a rare gift for weaving suspense with emotional depth, and we’re already impatient for what comes next! An unforgettable debut. One to watch? Absolutely. One to follow obsessively? Without a doubt.

Drawn in to the storyline and characters right from the start. Great read, great page turner. Couldn’t put it down! Couldn’t wait to see how things panned out ! Not disappointed. Lovely writing style - could visualise the characters, their surroundings and their mood. Author is on par with the best selling authors in similar genres!

  • Richard Moore

Everyone is saying it but it's bang-on...you can not put this book down once you start it. You imagine there's going to be a new development over the page and, guess what, there is! A brilliantly developing story that is horrific to witness.
