Book Description

Puffin the pup rushes through his day, every day, always thinking about what’s coming next and never stopping to appreciate the value of now. Join Puffin on one of his daily adventures as he learns how to be content and happy in the present moment. Follow along as Puffin reflects on the experiences and adventures of his day, exploring mindfulness and discovering the warm feeling of gratitude as he snuggles beside his older doggy sister, Cassie.

Reading this heart-warming story with your child offers not only fun and quality time but also introduces key aspects of mindfulness in an engaging and relatable way.

Lena has worked in education for 30-plus years. After a teaching career based in Belfast, Birmingham and London, Lena relocated to East Sussex nine years ago, where she currently lives with her husband, son and many pets. Embracing her love of nature and animals, and combining that with the practice of mindfulness, she was inspired to write a series of stories championed by her youngest dog, Puffin, a curious and feisty French bulldog. Lena is passionate about sharing the value of practicing mindfulness in today’s fast-paced world, with both adults and children, in a way that is entertaining, enticing and, above all, fun!

Absolutley first class this is the authors 1st book, I hope its the 1st of many.susequent books to incorporate all her animals. Although it is for the younger age group it sends out a powerful message of mindfulness.

OMG What a tour de force. I am a lady of a certain age and bought this for my Great Nephew. He will be delighted. I myself got caught up in this beautifully told story with the lovely Puffin front and centre. Puffin really brings you in to his world, which is rush rush rush - not stopping to smell the roses. A very subtle masterpiece which in turn will get the attention of the young child (as well as adults) to slow down and enjoy every little moment. Brilliantly written and the illustrations just match the essence of Puffin.

This wonderful book should be on every child's bookshelf. It is the perfect antidote to us unconsciously teaching our children to lead more and more busy and manic lifestyles. Before children become self conscious and caught up in social media, this book will teach a solid grounding in appreciating the present moment. It is as beneficial to parents as to children. The cadence of the book seamlessly guides into the rhythm of the breath. The writing brings to life the character of the adorable animals . It is a beautiful story with a very important underlying message. It is obvious that the author is very experienced with children, passionate about enriching their lives through mindfulness and what is important in their growth. A fabulous debut.

Such a charming book - I got quite invested in the story myself (and was breathing 1-2-3-4 without realising for at least 20 minutes afterwards!). Puffin is so sweet -- both the illustrations and writing bring to life this happy and busy little dog. I think this will be a lovely book at bedtime - lots to see and talk about but also helping to get kids to wind down for bed and reflect on what they're grateful for too. It's good to get kids so young to start realising that their mind and its chatter are not the sum total of them (don't mean to sound woo woo!). So in short, an engaging character, a simple happy story with a deeper message beneath.
