James Thomson was born in Ayrshire, Scotland. The eldest of three brothers, James left school aged 15 to begin an apprenticeship in mechanical engineering. On his 20th birthday, James became a qualified mechanical fitter, he left his job before his 21st birthday and has since worked on many important sites across Europe. He moved to Dublin in 1994. He married in 1995 and has since divorced. James has two sons, William and Luke. He still lives in Dublin.
