Book Description

This children’s book narrates the exciting adventures of moving to a new home from the eyes of two young children inspired by the rhyme:

Through the trees and up the hill,

There is the barn and here is the mill.

Round the corner, up the Red Berry Drive,

Into the barn, so cosy and warm inside.

Born in London, Jenny-wren’s artistic capabilities flourished from making miniature gardens at nine-years-old to becoming a chartered packaging and graphic designer in industry for over 25 years. An educator and exhibited artist whose objective is to create and inspire communication for all through the arts and inclusivity of cultural learning.

Jenny-wren currently works from her Birdsong Studio in the Essex countryside, managing ecology projects, painting and printmaking abstract landscapes inspired by light refraction.

Jenny-wren has created a beautifully illustrated children's story book about the Bats who live in Bulford Barn. She has weaved a thoughtful story round the adventures of 2 delightful children and their connections to the local wildlife which in turn delivers an important message. This book would suit primary school children who will delight in hearing the captivating rhyme read aloud.

Jenny-wren has captured a wealth of ideas in this delightfully illustrated book, full of inspiration for children to want to learn more about nature around them. Important ecological concepts are offered alongside humorous depictions of wildlife. Parents and teachers will be using this book as a springboard to learning, discussions and even philosophical thought. Independent readers will simply enjoy the pictures and the child-friendly, fun prose. My grandchildren, aged 5-8, loved the amusing and delicately painted characters and had fun giving them different voices.   Penny Smith Retired headteacher and grandmother
