Cristi Jenkins is leading a quiet life as a primary school teacher in a small village on the coast of West Wales. Stuck in this familiar backwater, she feels her life is going nowhere. Then, out of the blue, she receives a mysterious letter bearing an Italian postmark...

Cristi knows her only link to Italy is a tenuous one – the mother she never really knew, and definitely can’t remember. Yet her story is about to become inextricably linked to that of the Da Calvi family – four brothers torn apart by war, and an unbreakable bond between two young boys forged years before.

In modern day Italy, Seb Luce is the attractive Italian lawyer entrusted with Ennio Da Calvi’s affairs. The file appeals to his curiosity and determination to find answers to the questions left by an intriguing legacy…

What does all of this mean for Cristi, what decisions will she face, and is this a chance for her to find out who she really is?

A captivating read with a strong storyline The Da Calvi Legacy is a delightful novel that captured my attention from the very first page. On one hand, the story could be described as the protagonist’s journey of self-discovery, but it is also an intricate tapestry woven with themes of family intrigue, unexpected connections, romance and the echoes of modern history. The narrative takes readers on a fascinating journey between coastal West Wales and the sun- soaked landscapes of central Italy, two settings that are brought to life with vivid and authentic detail. As someone with Welsh heritage and a lifelong passion for all things Italian, I was completely immersed in the book. The author’s ability to evoke the essence of both places -capturing their cultural nuances, history, and atmosphere - is impressive. What further sets this novel apart is the way it builds its characters. Each individual feels so real and relatable that by the end, you are left with the impression that you know them personally. The author excels at blending history with fiction, creating a narrative that feels both timeless and modern. The social and historical elements are seamlessly integrated, offering readers fascinating insights without ever detracting from the main threads and emotional side of the story. The Da Calvi Legacy is a captivating and imaginative read that will appeal to anyone who enjoys a heart-warming dose of fiction intertwined with compelling historical detail. It’s a novel that lingers in your mind long after the last page
