Book Description

This epic fantasy begins in the mythical village of Redland, where a young dragon slayer called Hermine gives birth to twins, Stella and Sheila—but poverty forces the twins to be raised separately. A tale of sacrifice, tragedy, resilience, hope, and family bonds ensues, blending elements of folklore and modernity.

Years of terror at the hands of Crusty, a fearsome dragon who killed some of Hermine’s family, compel her to take action. After Hermine’s courageous battle with Crusty, a spell is used to transform Sheila, now doomed to a fate as a monster called Jummalin. As Stella grows, she discovers magical powers which she inherited from her dragon slayer lineage—and the responsibility that comes with those powers. These powers shaped Stella’s destiny and helped her to find love as a young woman and to produce another generation for the dragon slayer legacy.

Stella eventually attends a work interview, where she is successful. Her job takes her to the redwood forest—where children start to go missing. Stella despairs for her own children, so she devises a plan to solve the mystery of the disappearances. Riddles are pondered, and secrets are revealed. Stella learns only now that she has a sister and goes on a search for her. When Stella finds Jummalin and asks her to return to her family, Jummalin explains that this is impossible, as she is beyond redemption. Or is she?

When Leroy Bancroft Ancel was a child, his father told him stories when he was sick. Leroy developed a love for stories. However, his hospital stays due to asthma compromised his education. Recently, he decided to improve his literacy and began taking English lessons.

While Leroy worked driving a bus of disabled children, he told them stories, which kept them happy. He was encouraged to become an author. He asked a friend to assist him with publishing his stories. While driving buses, Leroy gets ideas for his stories. During breaks, he makes notes. He then takes his notes to his friend.
