Book Description

What lies beyond the veil of a perfect life? Sometimes, it’s darker than you could ever imagine.

She seems like any other single mother: quiet, withdrawn, trying to make the best of her circumstances. But behind closed doors, her mind is slipping. Her envy of those with happy, fulfilled lives grows insatiable, twisting into something terrifying.

Some women dream of love. Others dream of escape. She dreams of blood.

Her children are her anchor, her reason for living. They keep her tethered to reality – or so she believes. But when a kind stranger, Thomas Greene, steps into her life, her carefully constructed world begins to crack. The closer he gets, the more the truth claws its way to the surface.

What happens when the monsters we fear are the ones hiding in plain sight?

Fractured Veil is a haunting psychological thriller that lures you deep into the mind of a woman on the brink. As her perfect façade crumbles, you’ll be left questioning where the line between reality and delusion truly lies.

Can you trust what you see, or is everything just a fragment of the fractured veil?

Michael Davies is a lifelong resident of Ellesmere Port. He has always been deeply connected to his roots and family. He is a devoted father to four boys and one girl and now a proud grandfather. His life has been rich in both personal and professional experiences.

For 15 years, he worked in management within the retail industry, where he developed strong leadership skills and a deep understanding of teamwork. After many years in retail, he transitioned to a fulfilling role as an Operating Theatre Support Worker at the Countess of Chester Hospital. Over 12 years, he provided essential support to medical teams across all surgical specialties. Later, he moved to Arrowe Park Hospital to concentrate on Urology, a specialty he found particularly rewarding. In addition to his surgical duties, he would assist in the A&E department during high-pressure situations, bringing adaptability and a thorough understanding of operating procedures crucial to patient care.

However, one night after a busy day in the theatre, his life took a sudden turn. He tripped over debris left by builders and suffered a serious lower spine injury, resulting in the loss of feeling in one of his legs. He was no longer able to work, and losing his job triggered a difficult mental health battle. But with the support of his family and children, he fought to find a way forward.

During this time, he decided to write a book, pouring his emotions and experiences into a character of his own creation, his book, The Veil of Silence, which will be released on November 19, 2024, became a lifeline. Writing this story not only gave his purpose, but it also helped him heal.
