Book Description

The (In)Trepid Traveller invites you on a vivid journey across the globe, from the frozen reaches of northern Norway – where a sad Sami and his reindeer await – to the equatorial islands of Kiribati, where communities confront the daily reality of climate change.

Encounter giant lizards on Komodo Island, swim with sharks in the Langa Langa Lagoon, and explore the jungles of the Marquesas filled with ancient tikis and petroglyphs. Meet tattooed, machete-wielding workers on a copra plantation in the Solomon Islands, ride out a violent Mediterranean storm, and witness the crafting of shell money on Malaita.

Wander through a candle-lit procession in Athens, face a tense interview with police in provincial China, and observe a dramatic hanging effigy of Judas – complete with gunfire – on the island of Hydra. Be captivated by angelic voices at a mountaintop basilica in Spain and swept away by an Indigenous dance festival in Far North Queensland, Australia. You’ll even visit the mysterious Stone Forest near Kunming, China.

With touches of humour and a treasure trove of fascinating facts, this book is perfect for curious minds and adventurous spirits. The (In)Trepid Traveller offers an unforgettable glimpse into the wonders – and occasional chaos – of the world we share.
